Between the Dog and the Wolf

An installation that uses video, audio and electronics, experienced by audience who sit in an artificial set of a 1950’s New Zealand bach.

With the use of binaural sound recording, characters are heard speaking and moving as though they were present but never appear live. Moving video images complimenting the audio are projected down into the set; shadows grow longer, the lights switch on.

The interweaving of visual and aural systems of illusion amplify the relationship between the audience and the thematic material – that time is experienced subjectively, and our perception of time is shaped by the specific context of the present and/or past situation.

Exhibited as part of the Audacious Festival (http://audacious.org.nz/), Christchurch 2015. Produced by the clinic (http://www.theclinic.co.nz/).
