Netwalking Public Walk: BFP

Artist Simon Pope invites a group of walkers to explore the relationships between walking, dialogue, land and art.

Beginning with a presentation by the artist and drawing on examples of his recent work, participants walk through the streets of Woolloomooloo to explore the relationships between walking as an art form and as activism. The walk will look at art’s role in regeneration and the contestation and negotiation of land use in urban areas.

The walk will present different examples of walking as art, with a focus on social aspects that are underplayed in some artistic traditions – namely a togetherness accompanied by everyday speech and interaction. Together, the group of walkers will investigate various ways of understanding their encounter with each other and the city.

Meeting Point and End point of the walk will be at Big Fag Press.
